St. Joachim Parish honored Sr. Mary Albert Thompson at its 34th annual Diamond Ball at the Woodmere Club on June 22.
Sr. Mary is a 70-year member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and served as a teacher in several parish schools before being assigned to St. Joachim in Cedarhurst in 1955.
In addition to her teaching duties, she took on the responsibility of ministering to the sick, elderly and homebound parishioners. Sr. Mary became a full-time pastoral care minister and has continued that work for more than half a century.
