Susie Hirschel wins Cedarhurst shopping spree

Cedarhurst resident Susie Hirschel is the winner of the village’s Business Improvement District’s Summer Sidewalk Sale raffle for the $1,000 in store vouchers. Hirschel’s ticket was pulled from a basket of thousands by Village Trustee Ari Brown at the BID’s Sept. 17 meeting.

Hirschel officially received her prize Sox World Plus at 120 Cedarhurst Ave. on Oct. 11, the store where she purchased her ticket. Sox World Plus is a 39-year-old second-generation business begun by Charles and Connie Canino and now owned by daughter Alicia Cascio.

According to BID Executive Director Teri Schure, Hirschel’s initial reaction to winning the shopping spree was that the call was a prank, but Schure reminded her she had filled out the raffle. Happy, shocked and excited were Hirschel’s next reactions, Schure said.

This is the fourth Cedarhurst BID shopping spree raffle. It’s the first time the winning ticket came from Sox World Plus. Hirschel should have no problem shopping as 31 stores donated toward the vouchers.
