Overcast Taking in the fun and run of Inwood’s 5K
At Inwood Park the 18th annual Inwood 5K run took in the season as children got to pick pumpkins and enjoyed their own pumpkin tot-trot race before 272 participants finished the main race.
Patrick McCabe of Garden City Park finished first with a time of 18:15. Inwood residents Jose Portillo and Frederick Thomas IV came in fourth and fifth, respectively, in 19:21 and 19:47. Anthony Philippou of Lawrence finished seventh in 19:54. Shaniqua Fitzpatrick of Queens Village was the first woman to finish. She came in eighth with a time of 19:56.
The race route began in the park on Bayview Avenue went left on Doughty Boulevard to Healy Avenue then wound through the “back of Inwood” to Donahue Avenue along the Inwood Country Club to Sheridan Boulevard then back to Bayview Avenue and the finish line in the park.
