The business of Lawrence students is business

Lawrence High School students showed that they meant business as 23 of the 30 students who competed in the Nassau County DECA (Distributive Educational Clubs of America) Regional Career Conference at Freeport High School on Jan. 7 will represent Lawrence’s DECA chapter at the state career conference in Rochester March 6-9.

Seventeen students finished in the top 10 at the regional and 17 placed in the top 17. Both figures are tops in the county.

•5th Place — Karen Dermer & Kaynat Khalid , Travel & Tourism Team Decision Making; Jake Bernstein — Hotel & Lodging Management; Jesse Friedlander, Business Services Marketing

•6th place — Albert Salama, Accounting Applications

•7th place — Ryan Bae & Jonathan Rutchik, Sports & Entertainment Marketing Team

•8th place — Jerika-Tae Colon & Richard Luna, Sports & Entertainment Marketing Team; Diara Sang, Human Resources Management

•9th place — Edan Packin, Hotel & Lodging Management

•10th place — Jonathan Scott, Marketing Management; Kevin Rodriguez, Quick Service Restaurant Management

•11th place — Ravneet Sandhu, Business Finance

•12th place — Zaira Sylvain, Sports & Entertainment Marketing; Ben Breban, Retail Merchandising

•13th place — Chris Ringel, Automotive Services Marketing
