Another award has come The Woodmere Club’s way as it was given the prestigious Platinum Club of America award from John Sibbald, publisher of club Leaders forum and president of Platinum Clubs of America.

The award is presented every three years after Platinum Clubs of America surveys clubs that belong to the Club Managers Association of America. A club’s manager and board president or owner is asked critic the clubs in several categories. Respondents are also asked to rank the top clubs within their region and nationwide.

“It was a great surprise when I received the announcement of being selected as a Platinum Club of America awardee,” said Don Mollitor, the general manager of The Woodmere Club. “It was just another tremendous accomplishment, adding to an already special year for Woodmere, especially during our centennial celebration.”

Earlier this year, the Woodmere-based club was named “Club of the Year” by the Metropolitan Golf Association.

Only three other Long Island clubs have earned this award: Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley and Maidstone Club in East Hampton.

“We offer something very unique and special, a place where you’ll meet new friends and feel at home,” said Lee Israel, president of The Woodmere Club.

Sibbald said that only 3 percent of the nation’s 5,000 private clubs achieve Platinum Club status.
