Three-car collision in Lawrence

A three-car crash occurred just south of Broadway in Lawrence when an alleged intoxicated motorist drove north in the southbound lane of the Nassau Expressway last Sunday at 12:50 a.m., according to police.

The woman drove through the Atlantic Beach Bridge toll plaza and continued north in the southbound lane, where she crashed head-on into one vehicle. Another vehicle was also struck and came to a stop in the center median.

All three drivers were taken to area hospitals and suffered a variety of nonthreatening injuries. The accident closed the southbound side of the expressway for more than an hour. Nassau County police and the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department responded to the scene.
