Long Beach resident Todd Kaminsky. left, with his wife, Ellen, took the oath of office administered by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) at the Long Beach Martin Luther King. Jr. Center and was officially sworn in as the assemblyman from the 20th AD last Sunday.
Kaminsky, a Democrat, defeated Republican Avi Fertig, a Woodmere resident, in the election to succeed longtime state legislator Harvey Weisenberg, who retired.
A former federal prosecutor, Kaminsky said he supports the property tax cap — and would vote for extending it in 2016, as long as it didn’t get in the way of adequate education spending.
