Weisenberg honored for 50 years of public service

Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-Long Beach) received an award for a lifetime of service and achievement from Sinergia, Inc., in conjunction with the New York Association of Emerging and Multicultural Providers at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in Manhattan on Aug. 22.

Weisenberg, an educator for more than 20 years before becoming an elected official, has dedicated more than a half century of his life to public service that includes sponsoring many bills that help people with disabilities. Sinergia advocates for families with children who have disabilities.

“A thank you like this is very meaningful,” said Weisenberg, adding that the association is comprised of 42 different organizations that employees more than 5,500 people who are helping other.
