Unreserved Judgment

Wife knows life

Posted

My wife’s convinced that when I’m stuck
With no ideas to show ‘em,
I rely on rhyme and a little luck and send my editors...a poem.

Sometimes it’s hard to think of stuff

And the pressure makes it worse.
So when the deadlines loom and make it rough
I’ll throw something down in verse.

One still can write with mind and heart
it does not mean you’re lazy
to use a sonnet as a start
to describe those who drive you crazy.

A few choice words in just four lines
still tells the unjust where to go
as they turn the best, into the worst, of times
and try to squelch our rights to know.

A poem lets me write out loud
on topics large and small
a sitting lyric charms the crowd
as summer slips to fall.

Tales f family I can share
and advice I can freely give
I can use the space to joke or scare
or make fun of where we live.

And before you know it, the column’s done,
“reader’s block” has lost the fight.
Though the lesson reveals to everyone...
is that once again...my wife is right.
