A winter weather advisory is in effect until midnight as freezing rain, snow and sleet are expected with up to one inch of snow, according to the National Weather Service. Icing roads could cause hazardous condition. The forecasts calls for temperatures to be in the mid 20s.

The Brandeis School in Lawrence, the Hebrew Academy for Special Children in Woodmere and Hewlett-Woodmere public schools were closed Monday, as well as the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach, Davis Renov Stahler High School for Boys in Woodmere and Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls in Hewlett Bay Park and the Hebrew Acadewmy of the Five Towns and Rockaway.
