Woman cries wolf to cover up her crime

Teresa Bowden, a 39-year-old woman who reported an alleged burglary at her home at 7 Lawrence Lane in North Lawrence on Aug. 29, has been arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, among other crimes, after an investigation revealed that she fabricated the story. Police said Bowden did so in order to conceal her own larceny of $3,700 of her boyfriend’s money.

Bowden was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief and falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. She was also charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle for a previous offense. She was arraigned on Sept. 3 in First District Court in Hempstead.
