Volunteers firefighters from the Woodmere Fire Department took time to show visitors to the firehouse at 20 Irving Place in Woodmere on April 30 as part of the seventh annual statewide RecruitNY weekend, sponsored by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York.

Woodmere was one of more than 300 fire departments across the state that held open houses on either Saturday or Sunday. Guests were given a tour of the firehouse and had an opportunity to try on the firefighter gear. The volunteers also discussed the requirements and rewards of becoming a member.
