The Woodmere Fire Department swung open the doors of its firehouse at 20 Irving Place for four hours on Oct. 22 and welcomed the community to the annual open house to learn about fire prevention
Fire department members provided live demonstrations of extinguishing a fire and offered rides on the trucks.
Made up of roughly 60 volunteer members, the department responded to nearly 1,000 calls (fire and medical emergencies) in 2022 as part of Nassau County’s 3rd Battalion, which includes the Hewlett, Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Meadowmere Park and Valley Stream fire departments.
