The Peninsula Kiwanis Builders Club at Woodmere Middle School sold 575 carnations before Valentine’s Day and raised $400 for SIBSPlace, club adviser Dennis Brining said. The money was presented to Assistant Director Joanna Foremont. The students took flower orders Feb. 1 to 8, assembled the orders on Feb. 13 after school  and delivered the flowers the next morning during home room, Brining said.

Hewlett-based SIBSPlace, is a free program of South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside founded by Hewlett Harbor resident Michael Schamroth that offers support for children 5 to 17 who have a sibling or a parent suffering from cancer or another devastating illness.
