Emergency responders readied a stretcher on July 24 at Sunrise Highway and Merrick Avenue. Nassau County police said a car hit a man at 5:35 p.m. as he walked across Sunrise at Merrick Avenue. An ambulance rushed him to a local hospital, which admitted him in “serious condition.”
