In a rematch of last year’s Nassau Class A girls’ soccer championship game, South Side found the net twice in a short span midway through the first half and went on to a 3-0 victory over Division in the Conference A-I opener for both teams at Skelos Sports Complex on Sept. 11.

A day after Plainedge’s softball team completed a sweep of top-seeded Island Trees to win the Nassau Class A championship, the Red Devils baseball club continued its Cinderella postseason run with a 12-2 victory over No. 3 South Side last Friday in the deciding game of a best-of-three semifinal series at Barasch Field.

The Cyclones exploded for 10 second-half goals — five apiece in the third and fourth quarters — to pull away for a 14-7 victory over Jericho in a Nassau Class B boys’ lacrosse first-round playoff game.
