In 1965, Morris Kramer, a 30-year-old bachelor who lived in Atlantic Beach with his mother, claimed that the Lawrence Public School District and the State of New York were discriminating against him. A State Supreme Court justice has signed a temporary restraining order barring Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, the County Board of Elections and the County Legislature from adopting the new legislative redistricting lines that were approved on May 24. more
With a single vote on May 24, the Nassau County Legislature shifted 576,000 voters out of their current legislative districts and into new ones, while also moving certain districts, such as the 19th, across the county. more

Marianna Winchester, a Rockville Centre Gold Star mother who lost her son, 1st Lieutenant Ronald Winchester in Operation Iraqi Freedom, joined Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, other Gold Star parents and local veterans last week to denounce the recent 8-1 Supreme Court ruling in the case of Snyder v. Phelps. The ruling found that no matter how hateful their speech, the First Amendment protects Westboro Baptist Church protestors who have been picketing military funerals.  more
