It was a night of stellar performances as a standing room only crowd was dazzled by South Side’s middle and high school actors during the 20th annual RVC Education Foundation gala. The elegantly-attired attendees clearly enjoyed the theme of "Celebrating Broadway” at the April 10 dinner at the Hempstead Country Club .

For the past several months, South Side High School’s annual spring musical has been in the works. It is almost that time of year – when Rockville Centre audiences are dazzled by the highest caliber of talent from its teenage performers. Last year, South Side theater teacher and director Pamela Seiderman brought audiences a powerful production of "Les Miserables," and this year’s production promises to be just as emotionally intense and beautiful. This spring, South Side will be putting on the renowned Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, "Carousel."

'On Broadway' — on Long Island

The Island Park Theatre Group, in conjunction with the Island Park Union Free School Recreation Department, presented “On Broadway - A Musical Revue” last weekend. A cast of 70 locals actors, dancers and singers entertained the audience at the Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park - and the IPTG broke records with its ticket sales.

Anthony, who lives in Westbury, has been doing Elvis impersonations for a decade now, and admits that he still gets the chills when he dons the costume. His calendar fills up around this time of the year. Elvis would have been 75 on Jan. 8 — and in August, the month that Elvis died in 1977.
