Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano delivered his State of the County address to a crowd of more than 400 government officials and supporters on March 15 at the Museum of American Armor at Old Bethpage. In May, President Obama signed an executive order to demilitarize the police, banning the Pentagon from issuing surplus military hardware — including rifles, grenade launchers and armored vehicles — to police departments nationwide.
