Songs, prayers and the spirit of community
Attending the Women’s Seder on March 9 with her daughter, Carole Bachenheim, a congregant of Central Synagogue, described it as a wonderful event. Approximately 110 women participated. There was a strong sense of sisterhood she said, and women of all ages from the actual sisterhoods in three participating synagogues— host Temple Am Echad (the former Temple Emanu-el) in Lynbrook, Reconstructionist Temple Beth Emeth in Woodmere and Central Synagogue of Rockville Centre, were able to mix, mingle, meet new people and enjoy the camaraderie. more

As it has for the last 13 years, the annual Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Parade will step off this Saturday, March 20 at noon from the corner of N. Long Beach Road and Maple Avenue. Bereavement conference on Sunday Lifelong Rockville Centre resident Elaine Stillwell, chapter leader of The Compassionate Friends of RVC and a bereavement coordinator for the Diocese of RVC, coordinates the annual conference. It will feature seven presenters from Rockville Centre — Fredi and Ron Norris, Elissa and Joe Metz, Julia Schuerger, Anne Kane and Father Andrzej Zglejszewski are scheduled to be among the over 500 bereaved and those caring for them who are expected to attend the annual Bereavement Conference this Saturday, March 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Kellenberg Memorial High School. Sponsored by Catholic Cemeteries and the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the conference is open to people of all faiths. The Keynote speaker will be Sr. Ave Clark, coordinator of the Heart-to-Heart Ministry who is a popular author, retreat presenter,spiritual director, and bereavement counselor. In addition, 61 workshops will be offered (registrants have a choice of three) by prominent leaders in the bereavement field.  Breakfast, lunch and conference folder are included in the registration fee ($70 for walk-ins).  A well-stocked Conference Bookstore will be available and the day will close with a Eucharistic Celebration.  The conference brochure and registration form may be downloaded from the Web site: www.holyroodcemetery.org  by clicking on the word Bereavement and on the right, scrolling down to Bereavement Conference Information.
