The rear of a Florin Court home sustained “moderate” damage after a fire broke out on an outdoor deck last Friday, fire officials said. At about 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, Bellmore Fire Department Engine 306 was the first to respond to a report of a house fire on Florin Court near Lefferts Place in Bellmore, officials said. They said the extreme heat from flames on the deck caused the fire to spread behind a closed sliding-glass door into the home’s kitchen. more

Karen Anzalone of Merrick said her daughter Danielle met figure skating coach Aimee Molle of Bellmore at the Newbridge Arena when she was 7 years old. Almost seven years later, Danielle is still skating at the rink with Molle five days a week in order to prepare for competitions – even in the summer. more
