What a difference a year makes. In 2008, the Lady Owls had the task of trying to defend a girls’ soccer conference title with a relatively young team. Lynbrook was winless in its first four games, and was hit hard by the injury bug. The end result was a disappointing 4-3-7 season.
After a convincing 6-3 win at Long Beach on Sept. 22, the senior-laden Lady Owls were off to a perfect 4-0 start.

Attracting businesses to Lynbrook has long been a challenge for the village, and some say the parking fund law that requires commercial building owners to pay $10,000 for each parking space they fall short of the minimum number of spaces the zoning code requires is being applied arbitrarily to businesses in the village.

Changing the venue for the East Rockaway 9/11 Memorial Service due to rain seemed like a small inconvenience last Friday evening, when almost 200 people filled Village Hall to honor, remember and pray for the victims of the tragedy that touched and, in some way, changed all of the survivors’ lives eight years ago at the World Trade Center.
