Bob Selby, of Oyster Bay, was an Army specialist 4th class in Vietnam for roughly a year. When he began his service in 1969, he was part of an 11-man unit given the task of tracking enemy fire by radar, then firing back. He has post traumatic stress disorder from his service, and said he knows other combat veterans who have it too.

After the Wantagh Union Free School District failed to garner a supermajority of 60 percent of voters for its roughly $83.5 million 2021-22 budget, which would have pierced the district’s tax-levy cap with a 3.82 percent increase, the Board of Education held a planning session last Friday to discuss how the district could move forward.
With two main options on the table — moving straight to a contingency budget or putting the proposed budget up for a revote — the Board of Education chose the latter.

There were plenty of people walking the boardwalk and shore of Jones Beach State Park on Sunday, a cool spring day. With a cool breeze and wariness of Covid-19 in the air, many were wearing a light jacket and a mask.
In just a few months, this scene may look a bit different, with people in their swimsuits sprawled out on beach towels instead. But whether the beach will be filled at 100 percent capacity, or a limited capacity, remains a mystery.
