The West Hempstead Chiefs Soccer Club held Trophy Day last Saturday at the George Washington Elementary School for the participants of its six-week TOPSoccer program for children with disabilities. Seeing a positive response from the community, the Chiefs hope to bring the program back next spring. Volunteer Emily Fenner, 16, hugged a pair of her favorite players, Michael Maher, 8, and 10-year-old Shane Stepinski.

He was honored during last week’s Bellmore-Merrick Merrick Central High School District Board of Education meeting.
