Voters in the Rockville Centre school district have approved the 2010-11 school budget of $93.4 million. In unofficial results Tuesday night, the spending plan passed with 2,483 votes, 55 percent of the votes cast, while 2,027 residents voted against it. Polls will be open at South Side High School on May 18 as residents of the Rockville Centre Union Free school district have the opportunity to vote on school and library budgets and elect trustees for those boards. In this at large election, three district residents are vying for two open seats on the Board of Education. The candidate who receives the second highest vote tally will be sworn in immediately to fill a vacant term that runs through June 30, 2011. The candidate who receives the highest number of votes will be sworn in on July 1, 2010 for a full three-year term as a trustee.
