8th Senate District candidate discusses the issues

New York State Senate candidate Michael Venditto, a Republican from Massapequa, is running for the 8th Senate District seat vacated by Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Merrick Republican, in January. Venditto’s one-time opponent, David Denenberg, a Democrat from Merrick, recently dropped out of the race amid civil fraud charges leveled at him by his former law firm, Davidoff Hutcher & Citron. Jay Jacobs, chairman of the Nassau County Democratic Committee, said he believes Republican leaders “conspired” with the law firm of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron in an attempt to ensure that Democrats would be unable to nominate a candidate to replace Dave Denenberg in the 8th State Senate District race. Denenberg dropped out of the race after DHC filed civil fraud charges against him.

Keeping the park clean

Whether it was dropped by humans or brought there by natural forces, there was plenty of garbage to be found in the Tackapausha Preserve last Saturday morning. A group of volunteers spent hours cleaning up the park, which straddles the Seaford-Massapequa border. more

The price for a round of golf on a weekend day at Eisenhower Park’s Red Course will increase from $43 to $47 for adults who live in Nassau County. Republican county legislators and County Executive Ed Mangano last week approved increases of hundreds of county fees covering a wide range of services.

County hikes fees

The Republican-controlled Nassau County Legislature on June 16 approved fee increases for many county services, including parks, museums, pools, golf, marinas and vendor registration. County Executive Ed Mangano, who proposed the fee hikes in May, signed them into law June 19. more
