Representatives from the East Meadow School District’s PTA Council attended the 117th Annual New York State PTA Convention in Saratoga Springs in November. The conference, attended by hundreds of PTA representatives throughout the state, comprises educational workshops as well as sessions that allow participants to enact change through written resolutions. If adopted by the state PTA, the resolution will make its way up to lawmakers, who can use its basis to introduce legislation or amend current laws.

Students in the East Meadow School District came to school dressed in orange on Oct. 9 in a united effort to stand up to bullying. It was Unity Day, a districtwide initiative to promote student camaraderie and character education.

Members of the East Meadow School District’s Parent Teacher Associations work year round to advocate for children. The PTA Council — a coalition of the district’s nine school PTAs and SEPTA — raises thousands of dollars annually during its Founders Day Dinner and the money is used to fund dozens of scholarships to graduating seniors at W.T. Clarke and East Meadow high schools.

The East Meadow PTA Council hosted its 39th Annual Founders Day Scholarship Dinner on March 19 at Crest Hollow Country Club of Woodbury where 29 individuals were honored for their contributions to the East Meadow Union Free School District.
