The annual Hoops for Hope basketball game was played at Hewlett High School last Friday and featured the Bulldogs playing Division High School. Peninsula Kiwanis presented checks of $1,000 each to SIBSPlace and Long Island Cares.

Pioneers and volunteers honored by JEPLI

The Jewish Education Program of Long Island a Lawrence-based organization that uses a mentor program teach young Jewish children about Judaism celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Jewish Individualized Learning Program as it honored 11 of the program’s pioneers and 20 volunteers at a dinner held at the Lawrence Yacht and Country Club last Saturday.

Lawrence teachers gather baskets full of food

With $5 each from every teacher in the school district, the Lawrence Teachers Association collected $1,300 and used that money to purchase 40 turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, cans of vegetables, dinner rolls, bottles of apple juice and cans of cookies.
