HAFTR celebrates its generations of families

From Alpert to four sets of Zweibel families, the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) honored its three-generation families at the yeshiva’s 38th annual dinner held at the HAFTR Sports Complex on the Lawrence campus on Feb. 20. More than 325 people attended the Saturday night event.

Having a fair amount of fun in Cedarhurst Park

The sun seeped through the clouds and the rain abated for Kulanu Academy’s annual fair at Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park last Sunday. Rides, games, crafts, face painting, petting zoo, raffles and refreshments were all part of the four and a half-hour event.

Five Towns Kiwanis awards scholarships to students

More than $18,000 in scholarships were presented to graduating seniors from Hewlett, Lawrence and Lynbrook high schools at the Five Towns Kiwanis Scholarship Night at McQuade’s in Lynbrook last Thursday.

Hewlett High School hosts New York Lizards
and Team Israel

Hewlett High School played host to a morning exhibition lacrosse game on March 29 between Team Israel with Ari Sussman, who led the world in scoring at the FIL World Lacrosse Champions, and the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, who recently acquired two-time MLL MVP Pail Rabil.
