Mangano announced on Aug. 22 that 22 county residents — two of whom are Franklin Square residents, and two of whom are from Elmont — were arrested in a sweep targeting convicted drunk drivers who attempted to bypass required ignition interlock devices in their vehicles. more
The Dunkin’ Donuts at 238-19 Linden Blvd. in Elmont was robbed on Aug. 22, at 1:23 a.m., by an unknown, 34-year-old black man, according to 5th Precinct detectives. According to police, after the man made a purchase and was handing the cashier change, he displayed a handgun and demanded money. The cashier then surrendered an unknown amount of U.S. currency and the subject fled on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported. The man was described as 5’4,” weighing approximately 130 pounds. more
Naresh Singh, 21, of North Baldwin, was arrested after he tried to outrun a New York State Police officer while driving his Nissan on June 20, at 11:12 p.m. According to police, the officer was attempting to stop Singh for speeding — he was going 91 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone — on the Southern State Parkway, near exit 15 (Corona Avenue). more
