The carnival was a highlight of a summer, with arts and crafts, sports and enrichment learning for Merrick elementary school children.

The Merrick Board of Education unanimously decided on May 13 that school administrators were not to distribute field tests in math and English to classrooms at Birch, Chatterton and Levy Lakeside schools.
