Merrick Fire Department volunteers responded to a car crash at 10 Merrick Ave and Broadcast Plaza, in front of the State Farm office, on Monday. The Honda ran up on the sidewalk and smashed into the building. Fire department workers quickly disabled the car battery as a safety precaution. No injuries were reported. A second car suffered minor damage. more

Four young people escaped serious injury and possible death when the car they were riding in lost control and skidded a considerable distance, overturned and slammed into a tree on the Meadowbrook Parkway just north of Babylon Turnpike on Friday, Jan. 22. The four were trapped inside until members of the Merrick Fire Department and State Police were able to remove them through one of the car doors. more
The Merrick Fire Dept. installed its new chiefs at its 86th annual Installation Dinner on Jan. 23 at the Chateau Briand restaurant. The chiefs were sworn in by New York State David McDonough.
