On Aug. 15, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation hosted its 5th Annual Strides for Life 3-mile fun run/walk around Lake Agawam in Southampton. A record 1,100 people turned out to enjoy the gorgeous weather, bond with friends and family and raise funds for critical lung cancer research. On Jan. 11, Peter Frank’s Hair Salon on N. Long Beach Road opened its doors to help a neighbor in need. His staff volunteered their time to help Gina Giallombardo, a resident of Rockville Centre, who at the young age of 21 has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. more
