Along with several other first through sixth-grade students, she had learned about that ill-fated day during a school assembly last Friday afternoon.

More than 400 members of the community gathered in Hendrickson Park on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Some were there to pay tribute to loved ones they lost. Others wanted to see the piece of the World Trade Center that the village secured.

Ed Thompson has ensured that his son’s memory will stay alive for a long time. Glenn Thompson was 44 when he was killed on Sep- tember 11 in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. His body was never recovered.

The Village of Valley Stream will hold its annual Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony this Sunday, to mark the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Hendrickson Park memorial area, near the tennis courts.
