To the Editor: In response to your article, “Here come the political signs” in the Oct. 8-14 issue, I have to say there are so many huge political signs in West Hempstead that it makes our hamlet look terrible. I, too, am so angered by all of these obtrusive signs that I am seriously considering not voting for the candidates who have put up these obnoxious signs! more

To the Editor: On March 24, more than 300 people believed it important enough to take off from work and forgo personal and family obligations to go down to Hempstead Town Hall to let their representatives know their views on issues that impact their lives. Town Hall was filled to capacity. Yet two councilpersons, Anthony Santino and Erin King-Sweeney, who have salaries of $67,000 for their part-time jobs, which require them to appear two days per month at Town Hall, joined Supervisor Kate Murray and walked out of a crowded meeting so they could attend a photo op in Wantagh. more

In response to the letter from Donald Walsh of Franklin Square (“Senator Cruz is a hero, Al,” Oct. 24-30), as an American, I cherish our democracy and rights of all to hold and express our individual views, but I am frankly shocked that the Herald would print the dangerous, inflammatory rants of Donald Walsh, including his mis-characterization of President Obama as a “Muslim Marxist.” more
