The Baldwin Police Activity League’s Blue Devils basketball team, an AAU team in the 17u class, won the New York Regionals and went onto place second in out of 68 other teams at the Nationals in Orlando, Florida. “All the boys on this team were picked from our intramural program and have worked very hard this season,” said Ron Trimboli, president of the Nassau County P.A.L. Baldwin division. “We are very proud of these boys and their coaches.” more
Baldwin High School recognized the 100 mentor volunteers at the annual Baldwin High School Mentoring Breakfast and the Baldwin High School Mentoring Dinner the high school. School-to-Career Coordinator Pat Banhazl arranged both events. After losing several trees during the storm this spring, Steele School received a maple tree through a grant from the Cornell Cooperative Extension. In honor of Arbor Day, Steele held a planting ceremony with all grades in attendance. Director of Facilities Michael Sheehan told the students to remember this day in the years to come when they pass by Steele School and see the sapling grow into a strong, large tree that will provide shade for future Steele School students. more
The Baldwin Middle School Guidance Department held its first Career Day for eighth grade students in May. Seven presenters gave an overview of five different career paths - healthcare, environment, technology, and financial management and service industry - as part of the Career Development Occupation Studies (CDOS) Curriculum. more
