The Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast is back for its fifth season with a new team.

The 2023-2024 co-hosts Cydney Herrera and Blaine Harding, along with their editor/producer, Paul Clement, will lead discussions about Baldwin High School sports. The podcast includes interviews with athletes, coaches, and administrators from the Baldwin Union Free School District.

Herrera, a Baldwin High School senior, is excited to be one of this year’s co-host.

“Being a part of the Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast not only increased my knowledge about sports, but gave the athletes a platform to become a voice for their team,’ Herrera said.

“A podcast is a great way to develop new relationships and hear about different experiences,” Harding, said. “Getting the opportunity to hear different perspectives and getting a deeper understanding of the specific struggles are just a few reasons why I love co-hosting the Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast.”

Clement appreciates the action ‘behind the scenes.’

“Editing for the Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast has been a very rewarding experience,” Clement explained. ”I love getting the first listen of the people Blaine and Cydney interview.”

The Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast was the original podcast dedicated to Long Island high school sports. The Press Club of Long Island has recognized the podcast’s innovation with 1st Place in the “Best High School Broadcast” category for two consecutive years. Additionally, the podcast won “Best Podcast” for 2022 and 2023 in the annual “Best of Long Island” competition hosted by Bethpage Federal Credit Union and was nominated again this year.

Initially launched as a senior internship opportunity, the Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast has continued as an extracurricular activity due to its ongoing success. Gregg Kelley, a business teacher at Baldwin High School, serves as an advisor to the podcast and selects new student volunteers each spring based on feedback from the latest podcast staff.

“The Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast allows students to run the entire operation of a podcast, everything from preparation, scheduling, interviewing, editing, producing and so much more,” Kelley said. “These skills will help the students in their future endeavors.  This podcast also allows the community to hear from the amazing athletes and coaches behind the scenes.”

The podcast can be found on the district’s website and various other podcasting platforms, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Blubrry, Breaker, Castbox, Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Listen Notes, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, and Stitcher, making it easily accessible to listeners.
