The Baldwin Community Garden marked its 10-year milestone on June 21 with festivities that included live music, raffles, and hors d’oeuvres.

Spearheaded by the Baldwin Civic Association, the garden’s origins trace back to 2013 when Rita Cavanaugh, leading the association’s Beautification Committee, proposed the idea of establishing a green space in Baldwin. This vision was supported by then Nassau County Legislator Laura Curran.

The civic association secured a five-year lease in 2014 from Nassau County to develop the garden from a simple plot of land into a vibrant community space. Over the years, it has flourished with diverse plants and a calendar of year-round events, reflecting its transformation into an interactive hub for the community.

Currently, the committee overseeing the garden consists of roughly twelve members who nurture and expand the community asset.
