Students from Baldwin High School recently participated in the Nassau County Science Olympiad West Regional Tournament at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale.
They competed against 41 strong teams from western Nassau schools and the Baldwin students engaged in over 20 science-related challenges.
Under the guidance of their advisors, Joseph Denninger and Lindsey Stevens, who have served as advisors since the 2021–2022 school year, the two Baldwin teams earned medals by ranking among the top eight finishers in their respective events. Samantha Desantos and Ariana Foster-Guy secured a first place medal in the Write It Do It event, marking the first time the high school has achieved a first-place finish in any Science Olympiad event. In addition, Braylon Ashby and Ivan Barrera took home a prize—an eighth place medal in the Robot Tour event.
“It has been our privilege to watch the program grow and to see how dedicated the students are,” Denniger and Stevens proudly said of their team’s performance in this year’s tournament.
“Their hard work is what brings our teams success!”
