Baldwin High School senior Joellena Miller was among 54 Nassau County students awarded $250 senior scholarships by the Art Supervisors Association during the 22nd annual All-County Art Exhibition in March at W.T. Clarke High School.

The annual exhibition featured more than 1,200 pieces of artwork by K-12 students from school districts across Nassau County. Thirty-nine Baldwin students took part, joining students from every grade level across the county in displaying work in painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.

The Art Supervisors Association is a professional organization of art supervisors and administrators that promotes high-quality art instruction at all educational levels and supports conversations about art and art education.

Miller, a student in Baldwin High School’s AP Drawing class, was recognized for her portfolio, which focuses on overconsumption in society.

“Joellena Miller is an outstanding artist in Baldwin High School’s AP Drawing class,” her art teacher, Michelle Liemer-Kelly, said. “Her portfolio focuses on overconsumption in our present society. She was awarded the All-County Art Scholarship due to her passion, discipline, and extraordinary talent displayed throughout her senior year in Baldwin’s visual art program.”

Miller plans to attend City College in the fall to study architecture.
