An off-duty NYPD officer from Baldwin was killed Monday after a motorcycle accident in Brooklyn, police said.

Royston Ferguson, 35, was driving his 2008 Ducati motorcycle south on Rockaway Parkway between Avenue J and Flatlands Avenue in Canarsie shortly after 7 p.m. when he struck a 2015 Kia Sorrento in the process of making a U-turn across the double yellow divider lines on Rockaway, police said. The motorcycle hit the passenger-side front door of the Kia, causing the Ferguson to be ejected.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Ferguson unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway. EMS transported him to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The operator of the Kia, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to Kings County Hospital with neck and back pain. There were two 3-year-old boys in the backseat who were not injured.

Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Ferguson worked at patrol out of the Brooklyn north command and would have marked his 10th year in the department in July, police said.
