Reflecting on the complexities and joys of growing up in a large family, I am reminded of the swift passage of time and the importance of cherishing each moment, especially as I watch my youngest niece, Laci, graduate high school and embark on her future.

When I hear talk of student loan forgiveness, I immediately think of the wise advice that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Why should the government forgive college loans? Loan forgiveness is only a temporary solution to the costs of higher education. If loans are funded by the government, they are not forgiven, they don’t go away — taxpayers assume the debt.

Menswear designer John Bartlett held another pet adoption event at his namesake store at Charles and 7th Ave. South on April 17. In conjunction with North Shore Animal League America, Bartlett hosted the event with hundreds of pet lovers stopping by to ooh and awww -- and to even give some of the cute dogs and cats new, loving homes.
