The holiday weekend is filled with music, in addition to the patriotic celebrations. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers visit Tilles Center, while Old Westbury Gardens hosts the annual Long Island Mozart Festival. Over at Belmont Park, local bands perform during a "Beach Pary" weekend, as a prelude to the Belmont Stakes.

East Meadow Fire Department joined Uniondale and other departments in fighting a fire on Stewart Avenue near the Meadowbrook Parkway (M4) and the north end of Nassau Community College. Stewart Avenue was closed in the area.
