Building better businesses with East Meadow Chamber of Commerce

The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce introduced big changes with the changing of the season at their monthly meeting held on March 20. The meeting covered the recent updates to the chamber website as well as tips for growing businesses.

The changes to the website brought new life to the site, increasing usability and ease of navigation. The updated site features a page for acquiring membership. Residents who visit the website can access the website and contact information for all members.

In addition, Harrison Baron from Growth Generators introduced tips for businesses to approach utilizing social media.

Most importantly, the presentation summarized that businesses need to do one simple thing — post, and post often. Business owners and members of the Chamber were urged to post more frequently, and at specific times that are most beneficial for each social media platform.

Randi Shubin Dreser, president and CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank — the leading hunger-relief organization on Long Island— visited the meeting to shared Island Harvest’s vision.

The National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sponsored by Island Harvest will take place again this year on May 11. Residents across the island are asked to leave a can, or multiple cans, in the mailbox for mail carriers to collect. Opportunities to volunteer sorting and packing food begin the evening of May 11 and continue the following week, Wednesday, May 15.
