In recognition of the East Meadow School District launching full-day kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year, the district will host two celebratory events on Thursday, Sept. 17. The events are geared at celebrating the transition to a full-day program, and the community’s support of the initiative.

The first event will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Bowling Green Elementary School, at 2340 Stewart Avenue in Westbury. During the districtwide celebration, administrators, principals and local elected officials will join together. Kindergarten students from Bowling Green will sing inspirational songs, followed by light refreshments.

The evening celebration will kick-off the Board of Education’s communication meeting at 7 p.m. in the Leon J. Campo Salisbury Center, at 718 The Plain Road in Westbury.

Community residents are invited to attend both celebrations.

“We want to thank the entire community for supporting the 2015-16 budget, which allowed the district to implement full-day kindergarten,” said Superintendent Leon J. Campo. “By working together, we are giving the children of East Meadow more opportunities for growth and learning.”
