Arrest

According to Third Squad detectives, a Baldwin woman was arrested for allegedly promoting prison contraband at the Nassau County Correctional Center in East Meadow on March 22 at 1:05 p.m. 

Detectives said the defendant was observed on surveillance video acting suspiciously in the visiting area of the jail and subsequently was found to be in possession of narcotic pills and other contraband. The defendant’s four-year-old son was present during the incident, police said, and was later released to his grandmother.

Police said the defendant was charged with two counts of promoting prison contraband in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, two counts of promoting prison contraband in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child. 

Burglaries

- A home on Stewart Avenue in Salisbury was broken into on Feb. 25 at about 7:28 p.m. No possessions were reported stolen. 

- Jewelry was swiped from a home on Plymouth Drive in Salisbury on Feb. 25 at about 5:34 p.m. 

- A bicycle was stolen from an Ava Drive property on March 5 at 4:18 p.m. 

Grand larceny

- Unknown subjects gained entry to vehicles and stole assorted tools at various locations and times on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow from March 12 through March 14. 

- A Uniondale woman was arrested on March 13 for stealing $38.35 worth of merchandise from Pathmark on Front Street in East Meadow. 

- A vehicles front passenger side window was broken on Chambers Avenue in East Meadow. The interior was ransacked during the break-in, which occurred on March 14 at 1:45 a.m. 

- A boat was reported missing from a yard on Lenox Avenue in East Meadow. It was stolen sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on March 22. 

- Tires and rims were removed from a vehicle parked in a driveway on Stephen Marc Lane in East Meadow between 8 p.m. on March 21 and 7 a.m. on March 22. 

- Two shoplifters from Uniondale were arrested after stealing an unspecified amount of items from Pathmark on Front Street in East Meadow on March 21 at about 10:45 p.m.
