The East Meadow Board of Education welcomed new and returning leadership at the Salisbury school during their annual reorganization meeting on Thursday, July 16.

The meeting was intended to ring in the new school year as well as continued work in support of student achievement, educational excellence and meaningful partnerships with the East Meadow community.

District Clerk Judy Kandel opened the meeting by administering the oath of office to Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner, who begins his fourth year leading the district.

After the superintendent’s oath, trustees David Carl and Jessica Ricco-Simeone, who were re-elected by the community in May were sworn into new three-year terms on the Board of Education. Ms. Kandal also took the oath of office as district clerk, while Jeanne Puma was sworn in as district treasurer. The board then elected its officers for the coming school year, selecting Ms. Ricco-Simeone to serve as President and Maria Talluto as Vice President.

“September we’re working on, Mr. Spinnato and I are working on the state of our schools which will review all of our test scores and our initiatives and our construction projects and everything,” said East Meadow Superintendent of Schools, Kenneth Rosner during his meeting announcements. “So that will be for the September board meeting, so we’re hard at work at that, so we’re looking forward to kind of showing off some of the great things that are happening in our district.”

The district congratulated all of the newly sworn-in officials and wished the Board of Education a successful and productive year ahead.

“I would just like to say what a pleasure it is to work with this board of education,” said trustee Nancy Widman. “Our president, Jessica, our vice president, Maria, it's been a really good working board. We work very well together, of course we have our tremendous Superintendent Mr. Rosner and I’m looking forward to another phenomenal year,” she said.
