Rocky Partusch, East Meadow UFSD, who attends the Nassau BOCES Children’s Readiness Center earned the prestigious George Farber Outstanding Student Award this year for his remarkable attributes including passion, perseverance, enthusiasm, outstanding character, scholarship and willingness to help others.
Partusch was honored for the achievement by administrators and members of the Nassau BOCES Board during a special awards ceremony this Spring.
Over the course of his life, Partusch has demonstrated perseverance, passion, determination and resilience in his journey towards personal growth. He demonstrates an exceptional passion for learning, having made significant strides in skill development, including communication and self-regulation skills. Partusch’s inherent motivation to overcome obstacles has directly contributed to his ability to meaningfully engage in his school environment. He has learned to express his needs coherently, participate more openly in class discussions, effectively use coping strategies to manage stressful situations and to ask for help and support when he is struggling.

“Rocky had demonstrated remarkable perseverance, passion and determination in his personal growth,” wrote his award nominator. “He has a genuine passion for learning and approaches school with a positive, motivated attitude, always striving to do his best. His endless enthusiasm and tireless perseverance have led him to make great strides, both academically and personally. Rocky makes a meaningful and positive contribution to the CRC community.”
For the past 19 years, outstanding students have been earning the award in memory of the former Nassau BOCES Board President George Farber, whose passion for improving the lives of students was surpassed only by his love and care for them. Ferber was the longest serving Board Member in Nassau County, having served from 1971 to 2009.
