The East Meadow Public Library was anything but quiet over the weekend as EMCon AnimeFest turned the space into a lively celebration of anime, cosplay and pop culture, drawing families, fans and creators from across Long Island.

From the moment visitors stepped inside, the library buzzed with energy. Costumed attendees roamed the halls, posing for photos and swapping tips, while younger fans clutched sketchbooks and merch, eager to take part in the day’s activities. The festival blended entertainment with hands-on experiences, creating an environment that felt as much like a convention floor as a community gathering space.

A steady lineup of live performances and guest appearances anchored the weekend. Emmy Award–winning performer Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, best known as the voice of Abby Cadabby on “Sesame Street,” drew enthusiastic crowds, greeting fans and sharing moments that resonated with both children and nostalgic adults. Performer Robin Channing, known as “The Mind Bender,” captivated audiences with a mix of magic and mentalism that left attendees guessing long after the show ended. The energy carried into the festival’s musical offerings, as Eternal HOSHI delivered a high-energy concert packed with anime-inspired hits that had the crowd singing along.

Cosplay was at the heart of the event, with creativity on full display throughout the library. Young participants took center stage during the kids cosplay contest, confidently showing off handmade costumes and embodying their favorite characters. The main cosplay competition brought even more intricate designs, with participants showcasing detailed craftsmanship, from elaborate armor builds to carefully styled wigs. Workshops, including a session with cosplay creator Rizuki, gave attendees the chance to learn techniques and collaborate, further fueling the creative spirit of the weekend.

By the end of the weekend, EMCon AnimeFest had transformed the library into more than just a venue — it became a shared space for expression, fandom and community. Whether attendees came for the performances, the cosplay or simply to connect with others who share their interests, the festival delivered an experience that was as engaging as it was memorable.
