“Have a Heart for Jeff Whitman,” a fundraiser coordinated by an alumni group from East Meadow High School’s Class of 1984, will be held on Saturday, March 5 at RC Dugans Pub and Grill, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the growing medical and living costs for Whitman, an EMHS alumnus who seeks a heart transplant. To add to his medical issues, Whitman suffered a series of tragedies in his family. His wife died last June after a battle with colon cancer, and his mother died just after Thanksgiving. He also lost his father to illness two years ago.
Whitman currently resides in a rehabilitation center located in Yardley, Pa., where he is recovering from a series of heart ailments. The group of EMHS classmates, led by Denise Pascalis, is aiming to raise $10,000 to help aid Whitman through his plight.
Tickets for Saturday’s fundraiser, which can be purchased at the door, cost $40. The event includes an open bar and buffet. Raffles will be conducted throughout the night. For more information, call Denise Pascalis at (516) 520-5116.
